The BEET: Episode 5 with Maria Esswein

A veteran of The APEX, BC Bike Race, and just coming off a 3rd place finish in the 3-day edition of Breck Epic, Maria knows a thing or two about big adventures! The Sugar Beets Cycling rider isn’t into race placement—she was thoroughly surprised to learn she was competitive in the Breck Epic. For Maria, an event is about immersing yourself in nature, enjoying the journey, and embracing the people you meet along the way. Not physically embracing these days! It’s more about being present and celebrating life. But we’ll let her tell you the rest in Episode 5 of The BEET.

The BEET: Episode 4 with Becky Mikrut

Becky Mikrut brings The BEET in this episode. Becky made her debut in the Women's Pro XC race just a couple of weeks ago in Winter Park, Colorado, during USA Cycling's National Championships. Designer by day and cross country racer by passion, Becky created the Sugar Beets' team jerseys this season. She's taking a bit of rest post XCO season, and then readying herself for Pikes Peak APEX! It'll be her first time at The APEX, and participating in any kind of stage event, but her background as a cycling coach has helped her shape a solid roadmap. Watch as she shares her plans to smash it come September!

The BEET: Episode 3 with Samantha Welter

Of course you recognize Sam as part of The APEX team, but she is also a certified athletic trainer who helps empower endurance athletes to prevent and overcome injury. The statistics don't lie. Half of cyclists are female. Less than one-third participate in organized events. It's easy to offer an equal payout. It's so much harder to have an equal number roll up to the start line. We're taking a hard look at what we can do to inspire and empower women to participate in events like The APEX.

The BEET: Episode 1 with Celeste Cannon

Celeste Cannon, Stage 1 of 2020 APEX
Episode 1 features Celeste Cannon, 2nd place finisher in the Women’s 40+ category at last year’s Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox, who just happens to be the two-time reigning Colorado State XC Champion. Celeste tells us what she is doing differently this season to prepare. It’s something all of us should be tuned in to! Take a look, and bear with us..it was a little windy when this was shot.
