Course Video
Aravaipa Colorado Race Director, Morgan Weinberg, took to the trails to preview a section of the Pikes Peak APEX 50k run course. This section showcases the trails from Gold Camp Aid to the Daniel's Pass trail system and then back up Columbine returning to Gold Camp Aid for the second time. The Gold Camp Road segment is quick and mostly flat before runners drop into Daniel's Pass which features rolling terrain great for both bikes and runners. The punchy climbs are deceiving so save a bit in the tank! Once runners hit the road, they cross over for a tough climb up Columbine trail before receiving some aid and then continuing on to climb Buckhorn and descend down Captain Jack's. This course is a blast for runners who enjoy some hard climbs, flowing descents and a mix of technical and smooth terrain.
